ALTADENA RECIPROCITY PROJECT

The Altadena Reciprocity Project was created in response to the devastating impacts of the Eaton Fire, which not only destroyed the community and homes but also damaged many local trees. To prevent this wood from going to waste, Angel City Reciprocity, a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3), launched its inaugural initiative, the Altadena Reciprocity Project, to repurpose fire-damaged trees into usable lumber for Altadena residents.

What is Angel City Reciprocity?

LA Woodshop x Angel City Lumber Altadena Reciprocity Project Event

Join Jeff Perry of Angel City Lumber and Marty Johnson of LA Woodshop on Saturday, November 7th for a lecture and demo series where they will discuss each of the Angel City Reciprocity Project product lines in depth with a hands-on demo. During the course they will introduce a variety of alternative methods and techniques on how these products can be used within your home, what to expect when you use them and answer any additional questions in regard to your own personal project planning.

Our hands-on demo will offer each participant interactive and guided support on using both the table saw and chop saw to create your own cutting board. The class is free with a $50 deposit fee that will be returned upon arrival. All skill levels are welcome.

  1. Square feet (SF): area, measured as length x width. It's used for flooring and cladding because you're covering a surface.

  2. Linear feet (LF): length only, regardless of width or thickness. It's used when the board's width and thickness are fixed, so you only count how many running feet you get. This is for millwork-grade lumber.

  3. Board feet (BF): volume. One board foot equals 12" x 12" x 1" (144 cubic inches). It's the standard for rough hardwood lumber because boards vary in width and length. The formula is thickness (in) x width (in) x length (ft) / 12. This is for furniture-grade lumber.
